The ninth annual pari-mutuel harness racing season at Shenandoah Downs will kick off September 14th and continue every Saturday and Sunday thru October 27 with a 1:05 PM post time.
Fans can watch & wager up to 12 races every afternoon in one of the most scenic settings in all of racing. The half mile oval is located in between the Alleghany and Blue Ridge Mountain ranges in the heart of Virgina’s Shenandoah Valley.
Parking and admission are free and the races are family friendly. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase. A concession trailer sells everything from hot dogs and burgers to elephant ears and french fries. Sugar Creek Ice Cream has a stand there as well and serves the best ice cream you can find anywhere.
