Cassiopeia Foundation Awards $50,000 Grant to Camp Holiday Trails in Support of Foxfield 2025 Spring Races

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – April 18, 2025 — The Cassiopeia Foundation, owners of the Foxfield Racecourse, is proud to announce a $50,000 grant to Camp Holiday Trails, a year-round nonprofit camp for children with medical needs, amplifying the impact of community support raised through ticket sales for the Foxfield 2025 Spring Races.

This grant strengthens the connection between one of Central Virginia’s most beloved equestrian traditions and a local organization that has served thousands of children and families for over 50 years. The Foxfield Spring Races, held annually in Albemarle County, are more than just a thrilling day of steeplechase — they celebrate community, connection, and giving back.

Sara Miller of the Cassiopeia Foundation shared: “Camp Holiday Trails is preparing to begin construction on a much-needed medical building and are in the final stages of their fundraising. We felt that it was important to amplify the race committee’s efforts by matching the funds that it has committed to our philanthropic partner. Camp Holiday Trails does incredible work that often goes un-celebrated. Community events like our races at Foxfield provide a perfect opportunity to celebrate and uplift the efforts of Camp Holiday Trails and to remember that when we come together, we have the power to create lasting impact.”

Racegoers may elect to make a direct donation to Camp Holiday Trails when purchasing tickets for the 2025 Spring Races. In addition to its grant, Cassiopeia Foundation will match those direct donations by individuals to help ensure Camp Holiday Trails continues to provide inclusive, medically-supportive camp experiences — at little or no cost — to families across Virginia and beyond.

“Foxfield has always been about more than racing,” said Miller. “It’s about neighbors supporting neighbors. We are so grateful to have the ability to extend the reach of the race committee this year and beyond through the Foxfield Land Preservation initiative. Since the acquisition, our team has spent a great deal of time researching the property’s history and developing a complete understanding of founder Mariann de Tejeda’s vision. I am pleased to say that exciting things are ahead!”
