The 21t running of the $500,000 Virginia Derby (G3) ushers out the annual summer race season at Colonial Downs on Saturday September 7th! Racing’s top 3-year-old turf horses — along with the sport’s premier jockeys and trainers — will compete in Virginia’s most prestigious annual horse race.
Five additional stakes are on the under card including the $250,000 Virginia Oaks, $150,000 da Hoss, $150,000 Colonial Cup, $125,000 Exacta Systems Rosie’s Stakes and $125,000 Kitten’s Joy Stakes.
Other activities that day include live entertainment, pony rides and strolling entertainment. Plus, the first 1,000 fans will receive a free Secretariat poster. General admission is free and reserved seats are on sale at colonialdowns.com.
